  1. The eye is the organ of vision. In the human 
  2. eye, the light is focused by the combined 
  3. action of the curved cornea, the internal 
  4. fluids, and the lens. The insect eye is 
  5. compound-made up of many separate 
  6. facets-known as ommatidia, each of which 
  7. collects light and directs it separately to a 
  8. receptor to build up an image. Invertebrates 
  9. have much simpler eyes, with no lenses.
